Federal Asian Pacific American Council

The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) was founded in 1985 as a non-profit, non-partisan organization to represent the interests of the civilian and military Asian Pacific American (APA) employees in the Federal and District of Columbia governments.  FAPAC serves as an inter-agency association within the Federal and District of Columbia governments, providing a focus for over 30 ethnically distinct groups originating from the Asian and Pacific regions as recognized by the United States Bureau of Census.  In this capacity, FAPAC has established Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Veterans Administration, Department of the Navy, and many other federal agencies.

FAPAC held its first National Leadership Training Conference in Washington, DC in May to coincide with the APA Heritage Month, attracting 120 participants.  This annual conference is a premier training destination for federal employees and has been approved by the Office of Personnel Management.  In recent years FAPAC’s annual Leadership Training Conference has been conducted in Honolulu, Houston, New York and San Francisco, and in Washington, DC.

FAPAC has been a key sponsor of the APA Career Summit conducted by the U. S. Department of Labor that provides free one day training for Federal employees.  FAPAC is also a leader in providing recognition for outstanding performance in the Federal workforce by the presentation of the FAPAC’s coveted Military and Civilian Awards each year.  In 1997, FAPAC bestowed the first Special Service Award to General Eric Shinseki, U. S. Army.

Since its beginning, FAPAC has awarded scholarships and internships to outstanding APA youth in excess of $200,000 through its internal program as well as in partnership with the International Leadership Foundation (ILF), the Coalition for Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL), and the National Association of Professional Asian American Women (NAPAW).   For more information visit our website at www.fapac.org.

FAPAC has also been in the forefront with community activities.  In 2005, FAPAC donated funds for the building of the Pentagon Memorial and to victims of Hurricane Katrina.  FAPAC continues to live by the motto, “We Seek to Serve.”
