ILF Fellow Testimonies

Gene Kim

The ILF Fellowship strengthened my desire to pursue a career in public service and allowed me to gain a greater understanding of how I could best serve my community. Since completing my Fellowship in 2007, I have worked as a Legislative staffer in Congress, as a Research and Policy Director on a political campaign, and as a staff member and board member for two nonprofit organizations. The ILF fellowship helped launch my professional career, and I hope that ILF will continue to play a prominent role in developing future leaders for many years to come.

Prior to working on the Hill, she has pursued various political and public service efforts at the local, state and national level. Jasper Lo

ILF gave me a fantastic opportunity by placing me in an environment completely different from my usual surroundings. The ILF D.C. Civic Fellowship taught me how to get ahead in the business world, and gave me an appreciation for government organizations. The program also gave me the resources I will need in order to advocate for the Asian Pacific American (APA) community in today’s America. After I finish my career as an active duty army officer, I hope to work for the government aiding in its relations with China.

Jenna Lee

ILF changed my life by giving me the social network and support I needed to get started in D.C. and experience how a government agency operates. This opportunity has meant so much to me, and will be vital to my future advocacy work for the APA community.  ILF fellows are some of the most intelligent, ambitious peers I have ever met, and I look forward to working with them and ILF leadership in the future.
