HAIL FDNY AND OTHER HEROES
Bushism of the Day 214
Wednesday, September 7, 2005

I got a bit sick of watching Katrina coverage.  It bothered me that people would loot at time like this and shoot at helicopters that try to rescue people.  I also hated the blame game.  I feel for Bush as it seems people just blame him for everything that goes wrong, even a natural disaster such as Katrina, as if Katrina was controlled by him.  HMM.. Maybe people think he's God. HA HA.

Anyway, today I watched a little bit of coverage and saw fire departments from various regions of the country helping out in New Orleans.  I much prefer this kind of coverage - the kind that shows that people are generous and giving.  When W* and I drove back to NJ last Saturday we saw many police buses escorted by police cars driving down south.  Our guess was that they were being sent down to Louisiana to help out with the victims.  Such great help efforts contributd by others really make one's heart warm.

I was also glad to see that some darn looters and shooters in Lousiana are being taken under custody and sent to jail.  Today the Mayor of New Orleans issued a mandatory evacuation for every single person.  No resident is permitted to stay.  I don't even know why they would opt to stay.  The water from the flood is contaminated with bateria related to cholera so it's diseased.  It'll take a long while yet before the city is saved, but at least something is being done about it right now.

"The budget caps were busted, mightily so.  And we are reviewing with people like Judd Gregg from New Hampshire and others some budgetary reform measures that will reinstate -- you know, possibly reinstate budgetary discipline.  But the caps no longer -- the caps, I guss they're there.  But they didn't mean much."
