So I planned on hemming at least a pair or two of jeans this weekend. After I gathered the sewing stuff I need, borrowing some sewing books from the library, and looking up on internet to see how to hem jeans, I took out my sewing machine and was ready for the action.
I soon found that the hardest part about sewing is setting up the machine! First, make the bobbin, then make sure you have the right needle, then figure out where the thread goes. I wasted a considerable amount of thread before I realized the reason why the sewing machine wasn't working properly. I missed a loop when threading the machine!
After that, I followed the instruction I found on the internet (see attached file), then I tried it. The first one didn't come out as nice, but it was functional. I kept it as is, because I am too lazy to rip it and redo. (Yeah, don't hire me as a tailor.) The following legs of jeans I did fine, I think. I ended up hemming three pairs of jeans and I must say I am pleased with them!
Now I want to try to hem a pair of jeans that the hem seem to torn, so I am not going to save the original hem. We'll see what happens. I still got lots of pants I want to hem, but I'll have to find out how to do those, as I don't think it would work well with the jean method. After that, I want to actually make clothes from scratch - all the way from a pattern!
