Lunch Service

Throughout the school year, RCSPA sells box lunches that we order from local restaurants.  Every week that the Cultural Arts School is in session, there is a selection of box lunches from which to choose.  Just place your order at the RCSPA table in the cafeteria (typically we stop taking orders by 10:30/11:00am).  Your lunch will be available for pick-up at 12:20pm, just as the children's language classes end.  Lunchtime in the cafeteria is a fun time for children as well as parents, it's a great time to connect with friends and classmates.

The person behind the improved and expanded lunchtime service is RCSPA Co-Vice President in Charge of Services, Ms. Agnes Kiang.  Many thanks to her for her years of hard work and dedication!

Volunteer Activities for Parents

At Rockville Chinese School, we continue to thrive as a warm and active community because of our caring parent volunteers.  Through out the semester, opportunities are available for parents to participate in school activities.  Sign up for one event or as many as you care to (the minimum requirement is one per semester).  Use the convenient online sign-up created through SignUpGenius.com for more details.  If you have questions, please contact Teresa Lee.

Cake Personalized with Chinese Characters

It's easy to bake (or buy) your own cake and personalize it with Chinese characters.  Some RCS parents saw this cake at school on Sunday, December 9, 2007, and they wanted to know how it was done.

Many merchants on the internet make personalized icing sheets.  You provide the merchant with a jpeg photo of the Chinese characters that you would like to use.  Just the merchant with your photo attached.  They will send you an icing sheet in the mail.  Once you've received the icing sheet: you bake a cake, let it cool, frost with an initial layer of icing (or you buy a cake with plain icing), and then you afix the icing sheet you received from the merchant on top of the cake.  The result is a beautifully decorated cake.  It could not be easier!

Not only is the icing sheet pretty, it's also inexpensive.

Thanks to former RCS parent Patti Waldmeir for this information.  Thanks to Jane Chen, daughter of Wang Laoshi (Mrs. Grace Chen), for providing the Chinese characters.  Patti used icingcreations@yahoo.com for this cake.
