During the academic year, Rockville Chinese School is held on Sundays at Winston Churchill High School.  The address is:

From I-270:   Exit at Montrose Road West. Turn left onto Seven Locks Road. Turn right at Tuckerman Lane. Turn right onto Gainsborough Road. Turn left into the parking lot.

From I-495 N:    Take I-270 spur and exit onto Democracy Lane West. Pass Montgomery Mall on the right. Turn right onto Seven Locks Road. Turn left onto Tuckerman Lane. Turn right onto Gainsborough Road, then left into the parking lot.

Since 1980, Rockville Chinese School has been teaching children and adults about Chinese language and culture.

Over the years, our school has evolved around the needs of our students and families, but our goals have remained steadfast:  To foster the love of learning Chinese culture and language, and to form a social network among our families. 

Our teachers love both teaching and children, and our staff works hard to make sure the school runs smoothly.  We get strong support from our parents, and our Parent Association is an integral part of our program. 

Although our families come from very diverse backgrounds, we pride ourselves on being a warm and open-minded community.  You are always welcome to stop by at any time to observe a class or to talk to our staff and parents.

School is in session on Sundays during the academic year, from September to May.  There are two semesters in a school year, with sixteen weeks in each semester.  Fall semester usually begins after Labor Day weekend, while spring semester begins in late January or early February. 

School Facilities:  While school is in session, RCS has the use of classrooms, the cafeteria, the dance studio, the music room, one or both gyms, & the outdoor tennis courts.

A day at Rockville Chinese School is divided into two parts:  Language & culture classes, & then Cultural Arts School classes.  In the morning (10:00am to 12:20pm) are language & culture classes.  In the afternoon are Cultural Arts School classes, such as gong fu (kung fu), karate, Chinese folk dance, arts and crafts, painting, music, & sports.  These classes begin at 12:40pm;  they last 10-13 weeks, depending on the class. 

Students enrolled in morning language & culture classes may also take one or more afternoon classes.  The school also has many children who are enrolled in only afternoon Cultural Arts School classes.

Special activities:  Throughout the school year, there are many interesting & fun special activities for the children, such as:  Autumn Festival and School Picnic; Chinese Costumes Day; Holiday Potluck; Chinese New Year Celebration; Field Day; Mother’s Day Celebration; and Graduation/Closing Ceremony.  To see our school calendar for dates, just select "Calendar & Events" from the left-hand menu.
